After combing through all the suggestions and analyzing gameplay data, Blizzard has just presented a special post on its blog concerning Legacy of the Void and how its gameplay will be tweaked ahead of the actual beta stage.
According to the studio, one major aspect concerns resources. In the BlizzCon build, the resources were reduced to just 70% of their regular value, in order to promote more aggressive gameplay, which in turn results in more impressive matches.
However, that reduction seemed a bit too steep, so the current plan is to ensure that half the mineral patches have 1,500, the same as in Heart of the Swarm, while the other half has 750. The Vespene Gas resource, however, is reduced to 75% of its current total.
Blizzard explains that, with these tweaks, players are encouraged to move out and take bases aggressively, but there are also reasons to harass most of them. Managing bases and transferring workers becomes more meaningful and rewarding if performed successfully.
The Protoss might get a new unit
Besides tweaking other elements, the Legacy of the Void expansion might also bring forth a new unit for the Protoss faction that's currently still in the design process. According to the studio, the unit is designed for the early game and has slow movement speed that's coupled with the phase shift ability that turns it invulnerable and has a short cooldown to ensure it can survive ambushes. It won't counter core units for cost, but Blizzard hopes to make it viable.
The presence of the unit isn't set in stone, but the studio is open to suggestions about it and Legacy of the Void overall in the coming months, as it prepares for the beta stage.
